Places to Visit in Winter in Gilgit Baltistan

Kachura Lakes and Shangrila

Kachura Lakes are easily accessible during winter. It is located at a distance of 20 Km from Skardu airport. There are two lakes in Kachura: Upper Kachura Lake and Lower Kachura Lake also called Shangrila Lake due to the resort which is built there. There are many hotels around Lower Kachura Lake. In Skardu city, you can find many hotels and restaurants of your choice. You can enjoy local Balti dishes like soups and noodles.

Naltar Valley

Naltar valley is located at a distance of 40 Km from Gilgit city. This is the perfect place to visit in winter but facilities are rare there. So you must prepare before travelling to Naltar. Try to travel early morning and back to Gilgit. A ski tournament is organized by PAF. There is a ski resort and chairlift. Each year ski teams from across Gilgit Baltistan come here.

Hunza Valley and Khunjarab

Hunza valley is also a perfect place to visit in GB. If you are a snow lover then Khunjarab is the perfect place to see snow.

Khaplu Valley

Khaplu is yet another stunning place to visit in winter. It is located 103 Km from Skardu city. Few hotels are open during winter. Khaplu is the coldest town in Pakistan where the temperature goes down to -18 during winter.
